Marine AFC – Assistant Manager Alan Morgan On Joining, Form and Mickleover Sports

Following on from last weeks interview with Neil Young, this week we speak to Neil’s assistant manager Alan Morgan about his time at Marine AFC so far.

TCW:    How have you found your time at Marine since you joined?

Alan: I’ve really enjoyed my time at Marine since we have come in. Its a great club and everyone has been welcoming since day one. Plus I used to come here when I played for Tranmere Rovers and it was always a difficult place to come.

TCW: What appealed to you to come to Marine?

Alan: When I had a phone call from the Gaffer I didn’t need to think about it. Said YES straight away. Marine is a big club in Non League. Hopefully we can work together and get the club looking upwards.

TCW: What or who has impressed you the most?

Alan: The league itself has been a really good standard, also the cup draws have been really enjoyable when facing teams like Brackley Town and Salford City. We can’t afford to have a day off because you need to be on it every game. Every team in this league is a tough opposition.

TCW: We’ve been on a cracking run of form recently, what’s changed from before the new Year? Or has it simply been things have started falling in our favour? Or that little bit of luck here and there?

Alan: We have done okay since New Year, but there is a lot more to come from us. We have brought players in to make us stronger and there are places up for grabs. Players have been terrific since day one. Saturday will be a tough test against a side who beat us 1-0 away from home only 5 weeks ago.

TCW: Both sides desperate for the 3 points, are we going to see a very tactical game with both sides not taking any risks? Or because of the position we are both in we will see 2 sides going for it?

Alan: Mickleover Sports were better than us when we played them last time and went on a run after it . We will need to keep up our form and performances to get anything out of the game. Its a massive game for two teams. If we win then we will go 6 points ahead of them.

Thanks Alan
